The Story of Slam Dunk (1993)
Slam Dunk is a sports-themed manga series written and illustrated by Takehiko Inoue about a basketball team from Shohoku High School.
Sakuragi Hanamichi is just a normal high school student who is a leader of a gang. One day, while he was walking he saw a beautiful girl passing by. Sakuragi started stalking this girl and found out that this girl is a basketball fan. So he suddenly decided to join the basketball club to impress the girl he’s stalking even without basketball experience. During his struggle in basketball club, he realized that the girl he likes was in love with a guy named Rukawa Kaede which is a regular member of the said club and is a very good basketball player. He decided to beat this guy in basketball so he trained hard in order to become a good one.

Kuroko no Basuke (2012)
A group of middle school boys that play basketball, is said to be the prodigy of the generation. When they graduated, they were separated from each other and decided to fight each other in order to determine the best player in Japan. Kuroko Tetsuya, one of the prodigies who doesn’t play much, went to Seirin High School that composed of 2nd year players only. Tetsuya was criticized at first because his teammates don’t know yet his ability in basketball, but eventually they found out how good he was by supporting his teammates through passing the ball in different ways and angles.
